Biography
Taking roots music from both side of the Atlantic and pushing them together, English singer-songwriter Dan Hartland loves Americana for its breadth: jazz, country, blues and folk all play their part in his sound, and the British roots of all those genres nourish Dan's particular take on them. By incorporating modern pop songwriting into his rootsy idiom, Dan fashions accessible, intelligent and rewarding songs which are both articulate and emotional.
Live, he has a dynamic stage style unusual in acoustic artists, and gives the lonesome troubador shtick an energetic kick. He has developed a very strong live reputation in his native country, supporting the likes of Clem Snide, Foy Vance, Polly Paulusma, Audrey and Joan as Policewoman. He maintains a very regular giggings and recording regimen, self-releasing two EPs in the last two years on both physical and iTunes formats.
