ClobberJaw Resurfaces With Greater Insight

If the band, ClobberJaw, is unfamiliar to you, you might want to check them out. ClobberJaw emerged on the local music scene in Denver, Colorado, during the '90s, playing at all the high spots, such as The Gothic, The Oriental, The Bluebird, and the infamous, Herman’s Hideaway, just to name a few. After much success in the Denver and surrounding areas, the band members took a hiatus to pursue educational and other interests, only to realize that life without playing and writing music was lackluster. It can be said that ClobberJaw’s style incorporates Classical with Rock, leaving the listener feeling uplifted and energized, both at the same time.

Headed by singer/songwriter and pianist extraordinaire, Jeff Kingery, the band released a long-awaited CD, Toxic Syndrome, in 2009. They are now getting ready to wow the unsuspecting public by releasing another new CD in early 2010, a culmination of several of their best tunes from past records combined with several new ones. With an understanding of the dynamics of songwriting, Kingery plays with us in a definitively special way taking us on a musical journey, as he believes that the crux of any song is solid songwriting and musicianship.

With a renewed spirit, enthusiasm and life experience, Kingery has been songwriting, once again, and this has resulted in a winning combination. Looking back upon many of his previous works he says, “I can’t believe I wrote those lyrics; today I’m older and wiser, and I’ve grown in so many areas. I have a lot more to say and I can say it in a way that I think people can relate to.”

In early 2010, ClobberJaw will resurface in the Denver area, with plans to begin a regional tour, eventually taking them to the West Coast. In the meantime, they are finishing up a “Best of” CD, which shall also include some new tunes. Jeff now says of his music, “A great song chronicles a day in everyone’s life. Music is emotion; a good musician can take you through that. If you get that from me, then I have done my job. Songs that speak to the human condition are much more interesting.”
