Biography

www.carrie lennard.com

Originally from Dorset, in the southern part of England, growing up on a farm, Carrie started writing songs from an early age and a little later on, taught herself to play guitar, evolving her unique style. At the age of 19, she founded the songwriter and folk club FolkMoot with many well-known artists appearing regularly.

Earliest influences include Joni Mitchell, Simon & Garfunkel, Joan Baez , Bob Dylan, John Martin. Today, she listens into an eclectic mix of writers -
Janis Ian, Cerys Matthews, Allison Kraus, David Gray, to name a few.

Whilst at Hull University, studying music and training to be a teacher, Carrie performed in music venues all over the north of England and across to Germany both solo and with bands "New Southern Comfort" and East Riding Folk. Carrie was a regular contributor on BBC Radio Humberside, performing her own songs. She was invited to join a forum of poets to discuss her lyrics on air and one of those poets was laureate, Ted Hughes. Just before leaving Hull she played support for Maddy Prior. Later in the year, Carrie moved to London and has since been performing solo and in bands, all over London and the provinces. She has co-written with Michael Williams, Claus Regli, Patti Layne, Lee Lindsay and Mandy Mayhew.

In 2003, she became one of the original cast members of Girls with Guitars (UK), a consortium of established songwriters in London, and now co-runs the showcases each month in Covent Garden, central London This is the UK arm of Girls with Guitars (Nashville) which was set up by Cindy Kalmenson, the celebrated songwriter from Nashville.

It was through GWG(UK) that Carrie met Australians Julz Parker, an exceptionally talented guitarist and songwriter and her brother Joe Parker and their childhood friend, Chubs Winterhaven. Joe plays a fretless bass and hes good! Chubs plays percussion like hes done it all his life. Their own band is called Project Winterhaven and they are a tight Folk-Funk, Rock 3 piece with the ability to take you from an intimate acoustic feel to a high energy big stage performance within the space of a set. Carries latest CD KAYLA is available from www.carrielennard.com .
She says, KAYLA is a journey through time, a collection of thoughts and feelings that I have laid down in my songs> its a lot like keeping a diary> I remember exactly where I was when I wrote each song> and when my friend Julz came by we thought it was a good time to get them recorded and out there Carrie's been busy this year having just played her first Nashville tour together with actress and singer, Mandy Mayhew. Together, they were out promoting the "Kayla" CD from July 25th - August 7th. The gig at Americana Tonight has been recorded for 460 radio stations and goes out on air on October 1st. They also headlined with Devon O'Day, Kim McLean and Leilah (Malanie Safka's daughter) at Pegram's and sold out their entire stock of CDs!
This September sees the girls at their GWG(UK) venue in central London and also headling at the Windsor Arts Centre for the annual songwriters' festival. Carrie will also be supporting the fabulous band East of Ealing from London.....

"Radio Creds" are votes awarded to artists by radio programmers who have downloaded their music and have been impressed with the artist's professionalism and the audience's response to the new music. Creds help artists advance through the AirPlay Direct community.

Only radio accounts may add a Radio Cred. One week after the track has been downloaded the radio account member will receive an email requesting a Cred for each artist they've downloaded.
