Biography
Recorded in over a year, composer and choir director Ricardo Felisme would say that this album was fifteen years in the making. It all started when his father brought home a used casio electric keyboard from work. Within days, Ricardo had created the notes that he would later incorporate into the song Praiz’ him (tracks 10 - 12). A friend noticing his musical ability encouraged him to take lessons from well known jazz master Dernst Emile Sr. Under Dernst he learned to incorporate elements of jazz into all music thus creating his unique sound. Collaborating with the youth in his church, at age 18 he formed the Christian Haitian Organized Youth Choir. After this group disbanded, key members would join Ricardo to form Caribbean American Urban Spirituals and evangelists (C.A.U.S.E). Not your traditional praise and worship group, this choir used all elements of musical influence to make their sound, from classical to hip-hop, jazz to reggae, gospel to metal. Amidst their unique sound and style is their commitment to being true to themselves and resistant of the need to impress others. Their core belief is that everyone is special to Christ Jesus and that no one is entitled to his love but that it is only through his grace and mercy we are all under this great blue sky. This belief is reflected in their music which seeks to reach all types people from all walks of life, all age groups and all beliefs. The overall theme for this album is that we are all unified through our everyday struggles and complexities of life but through love and Christ Jesus everything will be alright. This albulm is dedicated to the co-founder and co-director Joubert Normil Who passed away in mid 2005.
