World music violinist Arvel Bird is the ultimate fusion artist, delivering a signature sound that spans nearly every genre, including classical, folk, Celtic, country, fusion jazz and bluegrass. In addition to his inspired violin solos, Arvel incorporates Native flute, rattle, dance and chants into his already eclectic musical experience - making him a truly versatile and fascinating performer.

Born in Idaho, Arvel Bird was raised in Utah where he began his eleven years of classical violin training. In high school, his family moved to Arizona where he earned a music scholarship to Arizona State University. He later transferred to the University of Illinois-Champaign/Urbana. After a year of intensive study with Hungarian violin Master Paul Rolland, Arvel began to compose and improvise, expanding his repertoire to bluegrass, Celtic, folk, country and old-time music.

For eleven years Arvel enjoyed touring with Glen Campbell, Louise Mandrell, Loretta Lynn and others. Now as a recording artist, Arvel tours internationally as a soloist or with his show group, “Many Tribes, One Fire”, which was created from his violin, native flutes and the inspiration of his mixed-blood Southern Paiute and Scottish ancestry.

This award-winning violinist has released 14 CDs and two DVDs since 2001. Five of his CDs have numerous nominations at the Native American Music Awards (NAMA), Indian Summer Music Awards (ISMA), Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards, and Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards (CAMA). In 2006, Arvel received the NAMA Best Instrumental for his LIVE! CD and the ISMA Best Contemporary Instrument for his Animal Totems 2 CD.

By 2007, Arvel earned the unparalleled respect of his peers and massive support of music fans to receive the coveted 9th Annual NAMA “Artist of the Year” title for Animal Totems 2 and the 2007 CAMA Best Instrumental Album award for his re-release of Animal Totems 1.

To understand Arvel’s universal appeal, one need look no further than the comparison of his music to the “Braveheart” and “Last of the Mohicans” musical scores. With the most recent U.S. Census figures showing that nearly 5 million Americans claim part American Indian/Alaskan Native heritage and more than 50 million Americans who claim to be of some Celtic ancestry and you have Arvel’s cross-cultural demographic.

As a sought-after collaborator, Arvel has recorded "Ananeah" with Grammy nominees William Eaton, Mary Redhouse and Will Clipman and piano/violin CD “Winds of the East” with Grammy nominee and New Age Pianist, Peter Kater, and many others.
