Biography
Allan Comeau – troubadour with a story to tell

Psychologist, journalist, and singer-songwriter, Allan Comeau grew up in Massachusetts in the 60’s, went to Woodstock, and once opened for Leo Kotke. He then found his way to California, meditation, psychotherapy, and then raising a family. His first CD release, Life is in Session, explores the ironies of our times; the need for love, compassion, social justice; and a healthy sense of humor...in our personal lives as well as in our relationships with one another.

Of Allan’s most recent digital release, War & Peace; Sin & Salvation, he writes “I’ve always been intrigued by dichotomies – the seeming opposites that accompany our attempts to define something by its opposite, or what it is not. I won’t list them – you know what they are. I made a list in 1970 — it’s pages long.”

Allan is a 2008 Inland Empire Music Award nominee in the “Best Out of County” category. Music Connection compared his songs and vocal style with Arlo Guthrie, his harmonies and social commentary to Peter, Paul, and Mary. Skott Freeman of Indie-Music.com said he was “reminiscent of John Denver and Harry Chapin,” and added, “Life is in Session is an impressive capture of everyday observations. Comeau is a talented troubadour with a story to tell.” Accompanying Allan on bass and vocals for most live performances is Johnny Szmyd, an accomplished singer songwriter in his own right.
