Biography
Based in the New York, Johnny Pierre has been active on the Long Island music scene for the past 30 years. Working in the Americana musical genre, his creative mission is to create modernistic songs that capture the immediacy of old time jazz, blues and rock n’ roll.
While living in France in the 60’s, Johnny fell under the spell of the British Invasion bands as he began pursuing his dreams as a songwriter. During the ’70’s and ‘80’s, he was the lead singer of the legendary Long Island rock band, the Freelance Vandals, and drew rave reviews in such publications as Variety, The Hollywood Press, The New York Times and Creem magazine.
From the 1990’s to the present, Johnny’s main focus has been songwriting as well as fronting the Americana blues combo, the Biscuit Kings. Over the course of his career, Johnny has opened shows for such artists as John Hiatt, NRBQ, Dr. John, Maria Muldaur, Paul Butterfield, Dave Mason, Rick Danko and Albert King.
Johnny Pierre’s first solo album, Prayers Before Sleeping (2015), received extensive airplay on Americana radio stations in the US and Europe.
His latest release, Johnny Pierre’s Holiday Jamboree, is a collection of original Christmas music that takes the listener on a rock & roll journey through the travails and joys of the holiday season; often from the perspective of Santa Claus himself!
