Biography
Darin and Brooke Aldridge are on a journey.
It has brought them together to form an award winning musical duo, had them explore edgier styles with groundbreaking releases, and now sees them driving forward through their dedication to ingenuity in the new release, Faster and Farther.
“Kingdom Come,” the lead off track, sets the tone of the album and is a declaration of the band’s musical mission. This gas-up-and-go song is powered by Brooke’s turbo charged vocal and launched by the guitar work of one of the album’s iconic special guests, Pat Flynn, who also wrote the song.
The album uses natural landmark themes as metaphors for the heart. “Mountains of Mississippi” spotlights the undeniable power of Brooke Aldridge’s vocal command complimented by guest vocalist and friend of the band, Vince Gill. “This River” is an impressionistic spiritual ballad with Darin on lead vocal. “Cumberland Plateau” written by John Cowan and Darrell Scott syncs three part harmony into a longing for heart and home. Cowan brings his bass groove and trademark vocal to several cuts including a new version of “Lila” known from his days with New Grass Revival.
“Fit for a King” is one of several Gospel music inclusions that are such an important part of the bands heart. Brooke’s moving vocals are accompanied here by the soaring high harmony from Charli Robertson of Flatt Lonesome.
Both highly acclaimed vocalists, Darin and Brooke combine rich harmonies with impeccable musicianship to create the unmistakable sound that has made them one of the hottest young acts in acoustic music and they’ve surrounded themselves with a band of equally amazing pickers. Faster and Farther shows again the solid grasp Darin and Brooke Aldridge have on making dynamic and powerful music.
