Debbie Durant has been writing songs off and on her whole life. She has been listening to bluegrass and gospel music (along with rock, pop, and jazz) since childhood. In the last 15 years she has taken up playing bass, first with “A String ‘N A Prayer”, later with “Stained Grass”, and most recently with “Savior Soul” and “The Rockdale Boys”.

The songs on this album are collected over the past dozen years and reflect things I've experienced and things I've thought long and hard about. About half the songs are gospel-oriented, but all contain truth. My goal with this project was to preserve a legacy to pass along to others. These songs are my "babies", but it's time for them to grow up and move out and establish a life of their own. I hope you enjoy hearing them as much as I enjoyed making this album.

The album was produced by Johnny Williams, a past winner of the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest as well as a respected musician. He also plays guitar on this album, and sings with me on "The Ballad of John Henry's Wife".

The other artists on the album are:
Scott Freeman (Mandolin)
Billy Hawks (Fiddle)
Jody King (Banjo, and guitar on "Resentment")
Johnny Joyce (guest vocals on "Far Side Banks of Jordan")
Jeanette Williams (harmony vocals)
