Biography
Biography

Cris Cuddy's songs have been chosen for recording by artists in fields as diverse as Americana, Country and Bluegrass. IBMA 2013 Female Vocalist of the Year Claire Lynch covered "Gone Again" for her 2017 Grammy Nominated CD "North by South", IBMA Winning Guitarist Jim Hurst (ex-Claire Lynch sidekick) ripped it up with his firey version of “Long and Lonesome Old Freight Train” (don't miss it : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aw5c4PmND48) , IBMA Winners The Spinney Bros. chose the moving “Sally’s Waltz” (one of several co-writes with his pal Tom McCreight, known to many pickers as "The Old Coot", former CD seller at festivals and bass picker/humorist/historian), perennial Juno Award Winners Prairie Oyster aced “Tom Cat” and “Long and Lonesome..”, and songwriting great and mentor Mickey Newbury used Cris’s “What if Frankie Doesn’t Like It” (and yes, it's about Old Blue Eyes) as a segue on his masterful “Long Road Home”. And there are more in the works..

His own career has included performances and recordings in the Folk and Americana worlds and the songs on "Sally's Waltz" show these influences as well as his deep love for Bluegrass which began decades ago at a concert featuring the legendary Don Reno. This particular influence germinated and appears in the song "Gone Again", recorded beautifully by Claire and featured here in Cris's original version.

Sally's Waltz is a collection of mainly acoustic bluegrass songs including the artist's own versions of songs recorded by artists Claire Lynch, Jim Hurst and the Spinney Bros. Featured musicians include Jim Hurst on guitar and vocals, Emory Lester on mandolin, fiddle and banjo and John P. Allen of Prairie Oyster on fiddle.

DJ’s & CD Reviewers Say :

One thing for sure, Cris Cuddy’s CD isn’t boring. It’s indie music, a mixture of blues, rockabilly, and a little Mexican and calypso and other styles you may not describe. He switches tempos and styles and keeps it all interesting from start to finish.
