Biography
Chronicles Dub Trio is an instrumental dub-reggae band that presents a sound experience that is entirely unique to the genre all the while paying homage to the greats such as Augustus Pablo, Bud Powell, Ernest Ranglin and King Tubby. Permeating the heavy drum and bass rhythm section of the Rattos brothers is a deep passion for improvisation with explorative harmonic and rhythmic sensibilities. The collision of jazz with 70's dub is a fitting one as both Jonathan Rattos and Alexei Orechin are graduates of the Humber and U of T jazz programs respectively
The trio has garnered acclaim in Europe and North America having shared the stage with Akae Beka and had their compositions featured by legendary producer Dennis Bovell in the UK and back home in Toronto on Jazz FM 91 .1, Their debut album, Reflections, was released in December 2016 on Coated In Dub Records and is a journey through the brightest shimmering colours to the darkest depths of the ocean; showcasing their compositions and arrangements that entrance the listener in their hypnotizing sound
