Biography
Caney Creek, formed in 2008, was started by 4 guys getting together at festivals and jamming. Crowds would gather and soon encourage these boys to start a band. The name comes from a little creek in southeast Kentucky where longtime bluegrass supporter Grady Adkins was born and raised. Pikeville was home for him and Caney Creek was his stomping grounds. With some of the band being from Pike county, they thought it fitting. The boys have influences that range from The Stanley Brothers, to J.D. Crowe but 98 percent of their material is written by them. The songs range from mountain murder ballads, lost love, moonshining, coal fields, and Appalachia. The boys feel this is what the music is all about. Sit back and enjoy the hard drivin music of Caney Creek!

The first single from Caney Creek's second album will be the title track, The Tale of Willie Tackett. The song was written by Chris Smith and tells the tale of a murder that occurred in Floyd county Kentucky in September of 1928. This project was mixed and mastered by Clay Hess and includes special guests Clay Hess, Junior Sisk, Stephen Burwell and Tim Crouch.
