Boyd Hulin has played with Donna Hughes, Kevin Richardson & Cutting Edge, and many others. He sang 3 of the songs on Donna Hughes' first album that was called Somewhere In Time: "The Old Homeplace," "God Loves His Children," & a duet with Donna-"Somewhere Between."
Boyd owns a music store in Asheboro, North Carolina, offering instruments & lessons, called "Got 2 Pick." He is now lending his talents, to share music with future generations to come. Boyd's voice and mandolin style, is unique, and this CD is a must for your gospel & bluegrass programming.

From Boyd:
My musical journey began 22 years ago at the age of 18 years old.
I started taking mandolin lessons from Tim Moon, a local musician who was teaching at a music store in my home town.

As a kid growing up there was plenty of musical influence including my uncles R.C. Hulin & J.B. Swaney who played bluegrass music but also my grandparents Rev. Jay Hulin & Betty Hulin who sang in church.

I was singing in church at a young age but it wasn't until after I started playing mandolin that I began to sing & play in several different local bands.

While playing in one of the many local bands, I was given my first opportunity to record with Donna Hughes on her first project, "Somewhere In Time" in 2001 & ironically enough at the same studio, Riverside Audio, where I did this album.

For 12 long years I neglected honing my skills as a musician as I worked for a major corporate company though I continued to play in local bluegrass groups.

In October of 2011 after months of prayer & planning I opened a music store of my own in Asheboro N.C. called "Got2Pick Music" & it was there that I met up with Kevin Richardson who had been playing & singing with Lou Reid & Carolina & The Larry Stephenson band for the last several years.

Kevin had started a band of his own "Kevin Richardson & Cuttin Edge" & needed somebody to play mandolin so I joined up with the band & just in time to be part of the bands first cd on Mountain Fever Records.

After a year & a half with KRACE I left the band & felt that God wanted me to do an all Gospel recording.
Although I still play & sing Bluegrass music, I've definantly returned to my "first love" with my cd "Just One Way".

Although I run my own business Got2Pick Music & enjoy teaching mandolin & guitar, my goal is to do "whatever it takes" to get the message of the songs on my cd "Just One Way" to anyone who will listen.
