Biography
The Santa Cruz Sentinel says Bev Barnett & Greg Newlon "take a sophisticated approach to their contemporary Folk and Americana."
Ronn Owens of KGO Radio San Francisco just says "wow, that's smooth!"
Across the sonic spectrum from graceful acoustic to blues to roots Americana, San Francisco Bay Area-based Bev Barnett & Greg Newlon offer up a contemporary sound much greater than the sum of its parts.
Their 2011 TrueWind Music release, Love Can Change the World, is due out September 26, 2011. What began as a conversation between the two became a song, then spawned this body of original work that carries a message vital to human existence. In 12 tracks (plus bonus) that hold the listener’s attention at every turn, Bev and Greg make a plea for pace and understanding, celebrate the beautify of love and life – and throw in a little righteous indignation for the wasteful excess of our “civilized” society.
Their lyrical passion is underscored by Newlon’s inventive arrangements layered with tight harmonies, tasteful acoustic guitar voicings and bluesy electric guitar rants – all supported by a compelling rhythm that keeps the listener in the groove as well as in the moment.
Love Can Change the World is a stellar recording that combines elements of folk, roots, blues and Americana, reflecting the eclectic nature of this musical couple’s combined past.
