Biography

Barry Holmes left the north coast town of Grafton in NSW, way back in 1959. He was fresh out of school, but full of hope and ambition as he trudged with his battered ol' guitar around the theatrical agencies in Sydney, hoping for a break into the lucrative club scene.

Ted Quigg, who was managing the likes of Judy Stone, Frank Ifield, Jimmy Little and Frankie Davidson at the time, took a liking to this raw sounding boy from Grafton, and soon he was touring with all the top stars, slowly building up a following among the country music fans.

Later came appearances on "The National Country Music Hour", "Travellin' Out West", and "Reg Lindsay's Country Homestead".

Nowadays, Barry has combined his talents and experience with three fine musicians in "Country Express", comprising Doug Clarke, John Forbes and Peter Miller.
