Biography
Born in Northern Portugal, he had very early contact with music as he was born in a family of musicians that entered him in the music academy at age four.
His first complete work was written at the of age six (”The Shire”). His first contact with synthesizers was in 1984 - a Korg Mono/Poly, that he dominated on his own without a user manual. While gaining expressive expertise in analog sound design, in 1990 he dived heavily into FM synthesis with a Yamaha SY-77 and also with wave-samples manipulation generally done with a Commodore Amiga.
An academic background in Electronics and Computer Science got Alvaro into digital signal processing ending up hard-coding most of a theme (”Electricity”, 1994) in C++ long before virtual-analog sounded warm or was even a trend.
Later on became an habituè with new synthesis like Kurzweil’s VA, addictive, granular, etc. Gaining maturity as a musician, sound designer and audio engineer, working professionaly in the background - even releasing some non-commercial Experimental Projects in the process.
