Designed to replace Rebel's perennial favorite
Christmas Time Back Home that came out in the early 1980s,
Christmas In The Mountains combines a few great old songs taken from that original collection with several more recent recordings to make up a truly memorable anthology.
The album features three fine new tracks by The Wildwood Valley Boys, "Christmas in Caroline," "Christmas Time" and "When It's Snowing in the Mountains," all well-written and beautifully song. Another cut that is destined to become a Holiday standard is the powerful "Christmas Letter" by North Carolinian Tommy Edwards. There's a nice "Christmas in Virginia" by the Lost & Found, two gorgeous numbers by Paul Williams, and Ralph Stanley II's poignant "Mary, Merry Christmas" - one of the last songs written by Carter Stanley as a final goodbye to his wife Mary just weeks before his death in the winter of 1966.
Also included are the original classic versions of "Christmas Time Back Home" and "Silent Night" by The Country Gentlemen, Ralph Stanley & The Clinch Mountain Boys' "Beautiful Star of Bethlehem" (feat. a young Keith Whitley on lead vocals) and two great Larry Sparks songs pulled from his own memorable
Christmas In The Hills album: "Christmas Time's A-Comin'" and "Blue Christmas."
