Biography
Dub Station, the award-winning band that has backed dozens of legendary artists & toured internationally - has selected Tom O'Brien not only as their rhythm guitarist and backup singer, but as LEAD vocalist, for his unique and memorable performances.

The combination is available this summer for club & festival dates, and may be working together before long on a follow up to O'Brien's ecclectic first album.

This Irish-American talent delivers poetic, thought provoking lyrics (click to read them in each song listing of this DPK). Complex chord-changes flow over a bed of authentic roots Reggae.

Though recording (and having toured extensively himself) in the U.S. Tom O'Brien performed recently in Jamaica, where he was told by Sean Paul's father: "you sound like Bob Marley." Humbly shrugging off the compliment, Tom said "thanks," as any artist would. "No..." came the response: "I was a close friend of Bob's, and you really DO sound like him."

The Jamaican press found O'Brien's stage show engaging, and described the Dub Station backing band as "exciting," even quoting Tom's lyrics in the papers (The Gleaner & The Observer).

Tom O'Brien appeals to older crowds with his mellowness, and younger crowds with his revolutionary approach.

Although resembling the King of Reggae in tone, O'Brien doesn't feign patois, he sings naturally in his own voice. His complex song structures keep the listener engaged, but there's a lilt, a groove, that's entrancing nonetheless.

From his early, basement recordings, to more full-band productions, Tom has shown his potential, not only to open the eyes of the core market, but to appeal to the mainstream, both of which have long awaited an artist of this caliber to come forward and be heard.

PS. Songs 5 & 8 are live, so fresh they don't have studio versions yet. They display Tom's raw, rough-hewn quality, and pub-side intimacy.

"Radio Creds" are votes awarded to artists by radio programmers who have downloaded their music and have been impressed with the artist's professionalism and the audience's response to the new music. Creds help artists advance through the AirPlay Direct community.

Only radio accounts may add a Radio Cred. One week after the track has been downloaded the radio account member will receive an email requesting a Cred for each artist they've downloaded.
