Biography
"Tita Luisa's unique musical style flows gently through a mix of pop, rock, jazz and folk tunes creating a smooth balance of fun musical flavors..." Bon Vivant Recording Studios
Tita Luisa was born and raised in San Francisco, the youngest of five children. As a result of living in a city with such cultural diversity, and growing up in a musical family with interests in varied genres, she was given a unique view of what music can be. Along with the mainstream music on the radio that everyone was listening to, she also enjoyed Jazz Fusion, Hispanic and Brazilian music.
Tita Luisa was born to sing, and tells the story of her first “public performance” at the age of 4: “I was hit by a van and found myself in the hospital for 9 days. With a captive audience of nurses, doctors and other kids in the children’s ward, I proceeded to sing pretty much non-stop! I sang all the songs I knew in English and in Spanish, over and over. (Laughing) It was probably cute for the first day or two…!” She dabbled with playing her fathers’ guitar and tickled the ivories after her sisters’ practice time on the piano, and as a teenager settled into learning to play the guitar to accompany herself. Songwriting came soon after, along with performances on local television and public radio stations.
The songs that Tita Luisa writes are sincere and thought-provoking, with lyrics that speak of emotions and thoughts that are a part of life’s fabric. They are stories, dreams, and hopes that settle comfortably into your heart and are sure to touch a familiar chord. It’s no surprise that she is quickly becoming the new favorite singer/songwriter for many people.
Tita Luisa lives in Eugene, Oregon and is a member of the Central Oregon Songwriter’s Association (COSA). She has won several awards for her songs and has performed at Bends’ Summerfest, COSA’s 2008 and 2009 Song of the Year Award Shows, and on KPOV FM Bend.
