Release Date: 2018
Tim Hildebrandt's new release reflects the breadth of his career as a musician, songwriter, recording engineer and producer where he’s traversed the musical terrain from soul to country rock. Drawing from these influences,
It’s all about the Song strays a little outside the lines and escapes any one genre;Tim allows the songs to drive the destination.
Tim paid part of his way through college playing in bands. One band in particular worked as a house band backing a number of soul acts as they toured through the south, including the Dixie Cups ("Iko Iko" , "Chapel of Love" ), and Major Lance ( "Gypsy Woman").
Tim signed his first recording contract in 1973 with the band Heartwood and released an album produced by the legendary Paul Hornsby (Producer for Marshall Tucker and Charlie Daniels). Out on tour, Heartwood shared the stage with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Delbert McClinton, Jerry Jeff Walker, Earl Scruggs, Vassar Clements, David Allen Coe, Asleep At The Wheel, Bachman Turner Overdrive, Steve Martin and many others.
After Heartwood disbanded, Tim continued with songwriting and moved to Nashville in 1992. He was fortunate to meet and be mentored by songwriting legend, Jerry Capehart, who penned arguably one of the greatest rock 'n' roll songs of all time, "Summertime Blues". Jerry signed Tim to a publishing deal and the two forged a bond until Jerry's untimely death in 1998. As a testament to Tim's songwriting, one of his works from that time, ”My Old Summertime", co-written with Tony Bowman, was chosen by the Disney Channel for the TV show "Even Stevens".
Tim describes himself as a songwriter who is a story teller.
It's all about the Song brings together the best of Tim's ability to narrate every day life, melding compelling lyrics with an easy musical style, blending a colorful pallete of Country Rock, Folk, and Americana.
