ALL HAIL TO HAYLEY - HOTDISC HAT-TRICK HEROINE!
The Hayley Oliver Band from Britain have slid into the number 1 position on the Hotdisc charts this week to make it three chart toppers out of three releases for the band who have now become the most successful British act ever to appear on Hotdisc. No other UK act has managed three number ones in the main Top 40. It's an incredible achievement for the blind singer who has only really been on the scene for just over a year with her band. Stuart Cameron HotDisc.
The success continues with Hayley and the band being nominated for the Horizon Award at this years prestigious BCMAwards in October, along with every chance of picking up the Award for the longest #1 by a British artist, they currently hold that record of 8 weeks. They are also performing at the Awards on Sunday 10 October at the Lakeside Club in Surrey.
Yes, there is more!!!! They have been picked as one of the two acts to represent the UK in Nashville, Tennessee, USA on 9 November at an International 'Live' show of International Country Music Acts from around the world. The show will be live in HD via the Internet for everyone to watch.
Not bad for their first year as a band. The band features 5 top musicians, including the UK's #1 guitarist Albert Lee's son Wayne on Piano.
Hayley was born in South London, the youngest of five girls. At the age of eleven, Hayley was nominated to sing solo at the Royal Albert Hall, and this led to her making her first record (Saint of the Orphans), and subsequent television appearances on "The Wide Awake Club", and "Going Live"
Her success at such an early age made Hayley want to have a career in music, but first she had to finish her education. She studied at the Royal National College for the Blind in Hereford for 4 years where she took Diplomas in business administration. Hayley then studied at the University of Glamorgan , gaining a BA Honours Degree in Business Studies.
In 2002 Hayley entered, and won, the Joe Pasquale's "Curtain Call" talent showcase, which has led to many other solo concert appearances over the last few years. She started to enjoy country music from listening to many of the leading US artists. and slowly changed her pop style to country. This encouraged her to form her own band last year.
In 2006 Hayley released her first Album “Two Hearts” Which includes some of her favourite classic country songs. That CD received great reviews and international radio airplay, winning Hayley the Evy of Canada Award for Best New Artist 2007.
In early 2009 Hayley started working with Nashville Writers and Producers on a project of new songs which became her second solo album “I Can Still Dream” in October 2009. The single ‘Another Lonely Night’ came from this CD and was released in January this year, and went straight to the top within a couple of weeks, and stayed there for 8 weeks.
Now with her band they have released a new CD ‘Naturally’ featuring her band, and songs that are featured in their stage show. The second single ‘Tell Me Why’ came from this album and went #1 for 6 weeks, the third single also from this album tops the chart at #1.
