The Flyin’ A’s perform a powerful mix of original Americana, Country, Southern Blues, and “Texifide” Jazz that is sure to audiences wanting more.

Stuart and Hilary are currently working on their sophomore album with famed producer John Jennings (Mary Chapin Carpenter) and are set to release the album in February 2011. In addition The Flyin' A's are part of a documentary project being filmed throughout 2011.

"A musical duo that is so hot right now, cool your jets...land and take a listen to The Flyin' A's".
Jason Wheeler, We Are Austin, CBS news

Music is something that has promoted positive change in both Stuart's and Hilary’s lives. They met by chance at the Kerrville Folk Festival. Hilary was escaping a frightening first marriage that was taking turns for the worse and Stuart was running from the demons that chased him after several years as a songwriter in Nashville. She found healing through songwriting and he was using his rhythm and rhyme to rebuild his life.

Hilary lived out of her car for 2 months; bouncing back and forth between San Antonio and Austin, crashing on peoples couches, and recording harmony tracks on Stuart's 2nd solo album, "I've Got Lonesome". Inspired, she quit her full time job and moved to Austin to give music her all. She finished the overdubs on Stuart’s CD and soon the two combined forces.

Not long after joining the Stuart Adamson band, he pushed Hilary out front. She vividly remembers the first time she sang lead on a song with the band. It was at Austin's famed honky-tonk, Ginny's Little Longhorn. ”People put their beers down, stopped their conversations, and turned to listen to me sing.” While her first thought was to run out the back door, she just shut her eyes and finished the song to an overwhelming response. Needless to say Stuart had her hooked.

“With their considerable talents as both songwriters and vocalists, they combine for a spirited and soulful explosion of distinctively original music. Whether tapping your toes one minute, or getting swept up by the heart-wrenching ballads the next, there’s no denying that you’ll be entertained”
- Mike Hall, Uncle Calvin's Coffee House

Stuart and Hilary officially joined forces in 2006 as the duo The Flyin' A's and as husband and wife. This collaboration led to their first CD together, “Blacktop, Back Roads”. Since hitting the road as The Flyin' A's, Hilary and Stuart get the best of both of the worlds they crave. They have a centering home base in Austin, Texas, and they travel performing together. With Stuart’s strong songwriting and aggressive guitar mixed with Hilary’s soulful singing and lilting harmonies, this duo is exciting audiences across the North and Central America.

“Stuart and Hilary deliver a spirited brand of original music. It’s a fusion of country, rock, jazz and gospel.”
-Sam Kindrick, Action Magazine

The name The Flyin’ A’s comes from Stuart’s family cattle brand registered in Texas’ Jones County at the turn of the century. The duo exemplifies the strong songwriting, original sound and diverse influences Texas music is famous for.

As for Stuart's hard knocks and those Hilary took, they chalk those up to prerequisites for soulful singing and songwriting. They’ve gotten a lot of material from those experiences and have had many opportunities to reach out to others who are going through similar challenges. Their songs come from the heart, and that's how they live. Their mix of high energy foot stompers and emotion filled songs speak to listeners. Each audience is filled with new friends they hope to meet at the end of every show. Music helped them both see that we are not solitary beings left to suffer, but that we are all connected as brother and sisters. Music is the voice they use to communicate.

Hilary always gives a bit of advice to the ladies in the audience; ”if a guy asks you to be his harmony chic, you never know what it might bring to your life!” She got a new career, a house, a husband, two beautiful step kids, and two spoiled rescue dogs they named Conway and Loretta (of course).

The Flyin' A's music reflects the sincerity, grit, and soulfulness of two people who have embraced life with both hands. Their performances are both heartfelt and invigorating, and are sure to leave you inspired.

“In a world of Pat Green and Robert Earl wanna-bes it’s great to hear a band with their own sound....
This is a band Texas can be proud of.”
