Since re-emerging onto the scene in early 2022, Strychnine Ninety-Nine has been relentless in their quest to ensure their incredible melodies are heard by all. With an all new lineup except original vocalist, Dennis Quick, they bring a fast, classic, hardcore sound to venues across San Diego and more. New members Andy Wakeman (guitar) Jason Machula (bass) and Rob Atayde (drums) provide the power and punch that every listener craves and deserves. Be sure to check them out and prepare to wonder what the hell just happened as you’ll be so drawn in you won’t understand the concept of time while playing witness to the moments being painted aggressively yet passionately.

Dennis Quick - Vocals. Dennis has been a long-time presence in the San Diego punk scene and has been supporting the scene since the summer of 1980. In 2014, this punk rock aficionado decided to form his first band, Filner Headlock, which was a punk rock cover band playing songs ranging from The Hypnotics Weird People to Chron Gens Outlaw. Strychnine Ninety Nine is a continuation of the his first project and now includes original hardcore music. The band continues to write new music as they play all over Southern California sharing the stage with legends such as The Vibrators, TSOL, Zeke, Change Today and many more. Dennis puts together several local punk rock events each year supporting the thriving San Diego music scene. Dennis is an example of staying true to one’s relentless punk roots.

Robert Atayde - Drums. Robert has been an active presence in the San Diego music scene for the past 19 years performing in several bands including Nuclear Tomorrow and Coda Reactor. This well-rounded musician, plays multiple instruments and has performed as a session musician and as an actor in several music videos. His current projects include drumming for the fast-paced punk rock band Strychnine Ninety Nine, playing bass for the hard-hitting War Fever, and performing vocals as frontman for the controversial band Grahzny.

Andy Wakeman - Guitar, vocals. Andy was greatly inspired by the punk rock of 1978 as it broke the wall between bands and fans. He started singing and playing in bands in 1981 thereby emanating the early energy and ideas of the hardcore movement. After relocating to San Diego in the mid-80s, he quickly joined that scene, forming the SD stalwart punk band MEATWAGON in 1987. He still plays guitar and sings in several bands including MEATWAGON, Big Black Boots, Correctional Cocktail, Personal Conflict, ArabSpring Reverb, and he now brings his five decades of performing to the good ol’ punk rock sounds of Strychnine Ninety Nine!

Jason Machula - Bass. Jason is a scientist from Minnesota that found punk a little later in life. Initial influences were bands like The Suicide Machines, Descendents, Rancid, Propaghandi, and NOFX. These bands eventually led him to Bad Religion, The Subhumans, Buzzcocks and Discharge. Jason has played bass for Nuclear Tomorrow and Last 2 Know. He briefly played guitar for 80s TV Time and Coda Reactor.
