Biography
SonicSorbet.com was conceived in 1999 by music veterans Beeb Birtles and Bill Cuomo, following their reunion in Nashville 15 years after Cuomo's guest appearance on Little River Band's "Time Exposure" LP. The two launched Sonic Sorbet Records during the summer of 1999 as an Internet label, offering online sales and radio promotion of their products. Their first two artists did quite well despite the lack of massive funds that were readily available to major labels. Pete Benz charted 4 times in the Texas Music Charts, twice in the top 10 and placed in the top 40 for the year 2001. Beeb Birtles' first solo effort went top 5 AC in many regional markets, against all odds, even managing to chart top 40 in Gavin. No small feat.
Due to rapidly increasing changes in the music business, 2004 marked the shift in efforts towards being primarily a production company. Sonic Sorbet now provides artists a quality CD product to pitch and to sell at venues and in the blossoming online market. Productions include Britt Adams, Pete Benz (both from Texas-alternative country), Beeb Birtles (LRB founder-AC), Williams and Ree, Halo Stereo (alternative) and Shamans Harvest (alternative).
Both founding partners have extensive credits and "pedigree", being involved in sales of over 100 million records sold worldwide. Bill's keyboard & arranging work with artists such as Kim Carnes ("Bette Davis Eyes"--Record of the Year Grammy winner), Steve Perry's ("Oh Sherrie"--over 3 million airplays), Little River Band, Whitesnake, Alabama, Faith Hill, Steve Wariner, plus many others, along with Beeb's pioneering vocal & writing work with the Little River Band ("Happy Anniversary", "Reminiscing"--over 4 million airplays, "Lady" etc.), BSG, and Zoot give the company a rich heritage and firm focus on bringing quality first at reasonable rates.
