Biography
Sonbeam delivers a steady stream of conscious lyrics (click of the audio samples provided). A fireball - both on stage and in the studio - if he doesn't break a sweat within 2 minutes of taking the mic, something's up. His name: 'Sonbeam' - represents the beam of light he's been charged with emanating - both as the son of his parents, and a true child of God. No wonder Coxone Dodd was preparing to voice Sonbeam as the very first singjay for Studio One.
Sonbeam's career got a boost earlier, as his premier CD with Dub Station ("Get it Together") got rave reviews from College Radio all over. Music Choice still runs his rhythms steady. Plenty of live work, including festivals and an appearance with Dub Station and Abijah just last fall in Kingston have laid the foundation for future recordings. Having left Jamaica for the UK, big things are planned for work with producers there.
A true speaker for the poor, Sonbeam's command of the stage and lyrical poetry is gritty and real. No one hears him without being smitten by his soul & integrity. Sonbeam has toured with Mikey Dread, and the world is soon to hear from him afresh.
