Red Camel Collective brings an exciting twist to a classic with their latest single, “Last Time I Saw Him,” available now via Pinecastle Records. It features the powerhouse lineup of Bluegrass mainstays Sharon White and Suzanne Cox, along with Grammy-winning fiddle virtuoso Michael Cleveland. The recording is the latest offering from the group’s forthcoming self-titled debut album, set for release on February 21.

“This is such a cool tune. It was suggested to us by Dale Ann Bradley. She’s been loving this song since she first heard Dottie West’s version years ago,” says Heather Berry Mabe, the reigning IBMA Momentum “Vocalist of the Year.” “It was first a #1 hit for Diana Ross in 1973, then a #8 hit for Dottie in 1974. In our version, we wanted to pay homage to the Nashville A-Team and their incredible arrangement of this song but with Bluegrass instrumentation. We love the retro feel and melody line, and we are so proud to be joined on this tune by Suzanne Cox, Sharon White, and Michael Cleveland! It’s a doozy for sure!”

Written by Michael Masser and Pam Sawyer, “Last Time I Saw Him” has captivated listeners across genres since its release. Red Camel Collective’s reimagined version offers a fresh, mid-tempo take, featuring Heather Berry Mabe’s expressive lead vocals, supported by the skilled instrumentation of Tony Mabe, Curt Love, and Johnathan Dillon. The group is carving out a unique sound in Bluegrass, and this track beautifully reflects their creative vision.

Red Camel Collective has been steadily growing their fan base and catalog in 2024 with inventive takes on well-loved classics. Their previous singles, “Sincerity” and “Roll On Mississippi” (a twist on Charley Pride’s beloved tune), exemplify their unique blend of soulful vocals and authentic Bluegrass sound. The band is also thrilled to announce the release of their first-ever holiday single, “Christmas Through the Eyes of a Child,” available to download or stream now. The original tune, penned by Heather Berry Mabe, is a heartfelt anthem reflecting on past Christmases and is part of the upcoming coalition project, A Pinecastle Christmas Celebration, dropping on November 29.
