Consummate songwriter and gifted guitarist from Ontario Noah Zacharin has officially released his ninth album of original music, Points of Light, in the USA. Points of Light collects together ten of Zacharin’s most popular songs with audiences and one new guitar instrumental. Though each song has long been a mainstay of his live performance, with one exception (a live version of "Ten Tons of Road" released in 2002) Zacharin had never put them on an album before. Produced by Juno Award-winning producer and guitarist Danny Greenspoon, they recorded and mastered the songs in some of Toronto’s best studios. The objective of Points of Light was to present each song in its best light: no extra notes, no superfluous instrumentation. Consensus: mission accomplished.

SonicPeach Music released the album in Canada last September to great critical acclaim. “…Points of Light…is a masterful singer-songwriter effort by any measure," wrote Heather Kitching in Roots Music Canada, "marked by poetry worthy of being described as literature set to gorgeous finger picking and performed in a manner that radiates authenticity.”

"Points of Light delivers a captivating and emotionally charged journey that spans various themes and storytelling styles while transcending genre boundaries. Regardless of your musical preferences, I highly recommend savoring the art of heartfelt storytelling within this album," wrote Jenna Melanson in Canadian Beats.

"Points of Light is an album of stunning beauty and depth. Noah Zacharin's amazing guitar work, his warm vocals, and his masterful songwriting make this release essential listening for anyone that loves music," said Blues Bytes.

Points of Light mixes solo and band performances. In addition to Russ Boswell and Gary Craig on bass and drums, the record features cameos by players such as Marc Ribot, Kevin Turcotte, and Kevin Breit. Previous recordings have all garnered popular and critical praise: Strange Rider (2016) made a number of ‘Best-Of’ lists for 2016; of 2018’s A Startle of Wings—an intimate, solo, 14-song journey through genres, concerns, and rhythms—renowned DJ Michael Stock (WLRN) said: “a beautiful album… rare to hear an album of solo vocal and guitar sound so full.”

As a soloist Zacharin has opened shows for Odetta, David Lindley, Dave Van Ronk, Jesse Winchester, Alex de Grassi, and Fairport Convention, and performed internationally in 100's of venues from club to concert hall. As a producer and instrumentalist, he has performed with Canada's finest, and appears on some 65 recordings by artists from across North America. A widely acclaimed guitar master, multi-genre songwriter, poet, and dynamic performer, Zacharin was given his first guitar at age 9, wrote his first song at 13, and began performing at 14. In December 2015, Zacharin became a full-time recording and touring musician, and is more thrilled than ever to be doing what he has, in fact, always done. Born in Montreal, Zacharin is no longer an urban dweller, splitting his time between a home on an acreage near Madoc and an off-grid cabin on the Canadian Shield. As the post-Covid road has returned he is spending time there as well.
