Otis Rush – So Many Roads: Live in Japan
Delmark 643 (1977)
Live performances of the blues were a new and rare event in Japan when Otis Rush went there in 1975 as part of a package-tour with Big Joe Williams, Little Brother Montgomery and the Jimmy Dawkins band featuring Jimmy Johnson, but the wild enthusiasm of the crowd that awaited their arrival at Haneda Airport and was ever-present throughout the tour and sparked some of the best performances of Otis’ career. Fortunately, they were captured in this album, remastered from the original master tapes.
