Biography

The Mountain Music Machine is a formalized assembly of more than forty singer/songwriters and pickers that pursue their music avocationally. They are world-class performers that choose family life and varied business and professional careers over life on the road as a full time musician. Their music reflects a passion that comes from a pure love of performance without the confusion of outside needs or agendas. Our Blue Ridge Mountains produce way more than its share of people that fit this profile.

Glenn Lawsons vocal skill is well known in Bluegrass circles from his work in the late seventies with J.D. Crowe and also with Spectrum, (Bela Fleck, Jim Gaudreau and Mark Shatz). For the past fifteen years Glenn has been using his accounting education as an insurance auditor and raising his children in a normal life setting.
Glenns song writing was developed while earning a degree in Communications from Berea College. Glenn has the ability to simply state a lifetime of experience and observation into lyrics that rhyme. This skill is a hallmark of upper echelon songwriters. His talent to fit synergistic melody and harmony schemes with the prose produces story songs that are very special. We welcome our newest member, Glenn Lawson, into the Mountain Music Machine.
