Biography
Monacy hails from West Chester, PA, a bustling college town on the outskirts of music mecca, Philadelphia. From the area that brought you a plethora of big name musicians including Patti LaBelle, Teddy Pendergrass, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, Jill Scott, The Roots, Will Smith, Jazzy Jeff, The OJays and others, Monacy is laying the groundwork to follow in the footsteps of their predecessors. Oddly enough, West Chester is also the home of Jessie Margera (CKY Drummer) and brother, Bam Margera (Viva La Bam / Jackass: The Movie 1 & 2), who have put the town on the map. Now its Monacys turn to show everyone what the buzz is all about!
Given their location, its no question where Monacy draws from musically, incorporating a tasteful blend of funk, rock, R&B, hip-hop, and soul, resulting in a unique and original sound; one impossible to classify. This original sound was created in 2002 by drummer Nick Ruffini, who recruited guitarist/lead singer Brian McNally, bassist Drew Pritchard, keyboardist James McLaughlin and lead guitarist Brian Nash to complete the lineup.
Since 2002, Monacy has been spreading their sound up and down the East Coast, from the Trocadero in Philly to Nectars in Burlington, VT. The bands live show has included performances with Phishs Page McConnell, Melvin Sparks, The Spam All-Stars, Dave Grippo (from The Trey Anastasio Band) and The Bloodhound Gangs DJ Q-Ball, and a requested performance at the Viva La Bam end-of-season wrap party. With such all-star support, Monacy is making a name for itself and becoming a premier band on the regional musical circuit.
Monacy is also well on their way to spreading their fan base across the U.S., with the help of multi-platinum engineer Rich Gavalis, and Los Lonely Boys Promotions Director, Gigi Greco. In June 2007, the band is releasing their sophomore EP, entitled Intensely Casual and production is underway for their next project, due out in December of 2007.
With Monacys eclectic style and energetic performances, this band is sure to please any taste and leave their listeners always wanting more.
