Biography

Born into challenging circumstances, fell into a life of sin, was incarcerated in 1974 at age 18 and expected to die in prison. Michael Burris was introduced to Jesus Christ in which he cried out for mercy and forgiveness, and spent the remaining years in prison In prayer and Bible study. In a sudden unexpected turn of events, Mr. Burris was released in 1982 back into society. Michael Burris then attended Bible College to advance his study of scripture, and went to work for a Christian radio station that the Lord has greatly used in his life. One night at a worship service in 1991, the minister prayed for Michael Burris to have a music ministry. The Lord has sent Mr. Burris a wife who played piano (now married over 30 years), and together they carried on a ministry in convalescent homes and rescue missions singing and preaching the Word of God. In Mr. Burris' prayer times, the Lord began giving him song ideas, which are now coming to fruition. All of these songs have come out of prayer and his study of scripture. Mr. Burris has also authored several books that are now in publishing, and can be viewed at www.companionradio.org. Michael Burris' main goal in life is to 1. be a faithful witness for the Lord Jesus Christ and especially in regard to the transformational work of the Holy Spirit - the actual changing of a person's heart and mind - and its reality in Jesus Christ. 2. That people might also see the Lord’s ability and willingness to do the impossible - to move the mountains that seem so immovable. And 3. The fact that our Lord’s arms are open wide to all. Whosoever will! Even though people must be drawn by the Father to Christ, Mr. Burris is convinced that he does not know who those people are, and that as a result his message must be, whosoever will, but also that there will be a harvest of souls as a result! It is his prayer and expectation that God will use Mr. Burris' efforts to speak to the body of Christ in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs.
