Biography
Mark Houser and Bluegrass Drive is a bluegrass band currently on Wurld Records and formerly on Rural Rhythm Records. The first album release from the band, UNEVEN ROAD released September 11, 2012 (RUR-1107) landed at #9 on Billboard Bluegrass Album Chart on September 29,2012.
The current album Gospel Train is a bluegrass gospel album released November 14, 2024. The album includes 14orginial songs with guest appearances by Darin & Brooke Alridge, Linda Davis & Lang Scott and Rhonda Vincent.
Houser wrote 5 songs on Mark Conklin's The Gospel According to Mark album which has been nominated for a Grammy in Roots Gospel Music in 2024.
The band is based out of Livingston-Overton County, Tennessee a place Houser describes as Americanaville. It is the birthplace of bluegrass icon Lester Flatt. Flatt's mother and Houser's great-grandmother were sisters.
Houser’s songs have been recorded by T. Graham Brown, Rhonda Vincent, Linda Davis, John Berry, Fisk Jubilee Singers, Rodney Atkins, Jack Greene, Carrie Hassler & Hard Rain, and Little River Band, among many others. Houser has written with Hall of Fame songwriters including Jim Mc Bride (Chattahoochee), Rafe Van Hoy (Golden Ring), Casey Beathard (Boys 0f Fall), and legendary country artist Keith Whitley.
