Her delivery is Raw, Passionate and Infectious.
Influenced from the likes of Willie Nelson, Slim Dusty, Rolling Stones, Dolly Parton, Lucinda Williams and The Eagles she has a unique gift for delivering familiar, yet original sounds in a new song. For such a tiny vessel, she is often likened to the presence and power of a young Suzie Quatro who encompasses the musical soul of Songwriting songstress, Patti Griffin.
With her roots planted deep in the country from her childhood days, at just 14 years of age, she took to the stage with an old acoustic guitar, self taught chords and instantly started building a strong reputation as “the one to watch” performing at hotels, rodeos, and clubs all over Australia.
During her travels the pen was never far from her hand and she continued to write and test her new songs on a fresh audience every night, honing her skills as a writer and understanding the craft of writing a good song.
Releasing a five track E.P in 1997, Lianna received national & international airplay charting on radio in New Zealand, Belgium, England and France and won the All Round Songwriters Award in Tamworth, Country Music Capital, 1999 after attending Tamworth’s Australian College of Country Music .
That same year Lianna caught the attention of legendary Gold Guitar Artist, “Reg Poole” and after his request to write for his new album, Reg Poole recorded her song, “Daddy’s Boots”.
The Year 2000 saw her self penned song “Country’s In Her Heart” recorded by ABC Music for the Open Road Compilation and in 2001 that song went on to crown her as Winner of the Inaugural Musicoz Songwriters Award, receiving invites to open shows with Australia’s greats, Daryl Braithwaite & James Reyne.
This change of audience saw Lianna delve deep into crossing genres and an invitation to co-write with Bill Chambers, father to Kasey Chambers, Lianna was introduced to some of America’s top Blues and Roots artists. This struck a chord with her desire to experiment in different tunings and Alt- Country/Rock grooves.
Welcoming the new sounds, she began to develop her own unique style.
A hunger to learn more catapulted her into the Australian blues scene with invites from Australia’s greats to support their shows.
This was a whole new world for Lianna, and in 2003, she was backup vocalist for the legendary Stevie Wright of the “Easybeats”, Russell Morris, Max Merritt and Normie Rowe and could be seen working alongside, some of Australia’s Greatest Rock & Blues musicians.
