Jordan Patterson

First feeling the power of music after hearing the sounds of such classic rock legends as Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin, it wasn't long before Jordan Patterson's parents purchased him a Fender Stratocaster to encourage his musical ambitions. Although showing aptitude for the instrument, it wasn't long before the budding musician realized that there simply were too many playing guitar in the crowded, Ontario, Canada music scene for him to make his mark. It was a chance gift of a Hohner harmonica, which led him towards the musical path he was soon to undertake. Influenced by blues harp legends James Cotton, and Paul Butterfield, he soon immersed himself deep in the roots of the genre, while retaining a contemporary edge keeping in line with his relatively young age. It wasn't long before the teen-aged Patterson was making road trips throughout Ontario, Canada, even venturing across the border to frequent Buffalo, New York, and Detroit, Michigan blues clubs such as the famed Soup Kitchen Saloon, where he first saw guitar blues legend Bobby Parker, whom later would take Patterson under his wing, mentoring him when Jordan moved to the Washington D.C. area several years later. In 1996, Jordan released his debut album with the D.C. Hurricane, 'Give Me A Chance' on JSP Records. A solid offering, featuring guest performances from blues legends Bobby Rush and Bobby Parker, it garnered him critical acclaim and worldwide press from notable publications such as Living Blues Magazine (USA), Blueprint Magazine (UK) All Music Guide (USA), and countless newspapers throughout the globe.

Blueprint Magazine was especially enthusiastic about his live performance, exclaiming, "Blessed with a voice that many performers would die for, Patterson has the wit and personality that guarantee him success. This man is a class performer and a major star in the making." - Blueprint Magazine, U.K. 2000

JORDAN PATTERSON / MAKING MUSIC: EST. 1996 - 2022

“Honestly, if you listen to this and don’t want to go to one of this guy’s concerts, there is something seriously wrong with you. While this is pretty rote rock and roll, in a sense, it smolders and begs you to even try to put out the fire.” - PopMatters, U.S.A. 2016

“It’s hard to pinpoint the most exciting thing here: is it Patterson’s raspy vocals, his flammable harp licks, or his incomparably skilled backing band? How about all the above?” - Hot Ticket, The Charlotte Observer, N.C., U.S.A. 1996

“Promoters take note: Jordan Patterson is Back! I saw Patterson perform at the 2014 Tremblant International Blues Festival in Mont Tremblant and was blown away with his original songs, professional band arrangements, soulful vocals, and a harmonica style born of blues masters.” - Art Tipaldi, Editor, Blues Music Magazine, U.S.A. 2016

For his 3rd album “Blues and Black Culture,” Jordan Patterson has aligned himself with like-minded musicians, great players who come willing to also push the boundaries that suggest the limits of the Blues. Every song is beautifully written, performed, and recorded - showcasing the depth of Patterson’s originality and imagination. With respect for the Blues, Funk, Rock & Roll, Soul, and R&B - the aggressive vocals, with explosive guitar, harmonica, and soaring B3 Organ, the song comes to life and finds a center stage, on the debut single “This Soul Connection.”

As an artistic expression, “Blues and Black Culture” is the idealistic sound Jordan Patterson has always wanted to create. It’s all original music that makes him proud to discuss the creative process and many collabortors who supported this project. Patterson’s take on the Blues and Roots Rock brings something unique to the table. This latest recording is deeper in the pocket and even more satisfying, than his 2016 release “The Back On Track Recording Project.”
