Biography
Two new songs from Michigan veteran rockers, a digital 45 if you will.
Side A Here We Come, a classic rock anthem about a band making the big time and loving it.
Side B Naomi, a bouncy Seger-esque number reminiscing over young love.
And here is the band: Myk Rise, considered one of Michigans finest rock guitarists, has worked as house band at Mackinac Island Pink Pony for years. Drummer Bill Newland has worked with Myk Rise and other northern Michigan acts. Bassist Mic Stankiewicz has worked with Yeesh, Rising Walrus and many other mid-Michigan acts. Charlie Walmsley on keys and vocals works with Crazy Chestur, Jive at Five and Rising Walrus. Walmsley also writes songs for Larry McCray, Crazy Chestur and others.
"Michigan songwriter, Charlie Walmsley, delivers two anthemic ballads. Side A of this digital 45 is Here We Come, a song that will transport you to the nearest arena. Hearkening to Jackson Browne's The Load Out, Walmsley gives us a noble rock star fable with just the right amount of decadence. Sweet guitar licks (ala Dicky Betts) crescendo alongside Walmsley's bravura performance.
The rueful tale of thwarted love, Naomi (side B), is a pastiche of Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band, circa 1982. Walmsley lays down a Roy Bittan-esque piano groove and delivers a winning vocal. He dynamically orchestrates a seasoned band of Michigan luminaries with Myk Rise on guitar, Bill Newland on drums and Mic Stankiewicz on bass". - John D. Lamb
