Biography
The GOLD HEART sisters Analise (mandolin, 19), Jocelyn (guitar, 16) and Shelby (fiddle, 13) have created a lot of appreciation and respect from the Bluegrass community for their award winning instrumental ability and their unique well honed and astonishingly accomplished harmony-laden rootsy, yet fresh and exciting sound !
The GOLD HEART sisters tour extensively and perform as a quintet with father Trent on bass and banjoist Russ Carson. The sisters have been strongly gaining attention in the Bluegrass community ever since their formation in 2005 in the Virginia area. Most recently they have just returned from a major international European tour and have been asked by the IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) to be an official IBMA “Showcase Artist” at the 2009 IBMA Convention in Nashville.
These very musically gifted young artists are also consummate songwriters, who wrote 9 of the 12 songs on the new album and also provided the arrangements including the powerful arrangement for the first single “Sister” written by Nora Jane Struthers, and features lead vocals by the youngest GOLD HEART sister, Shelby. The album “MY SISTERS AND ME” was produced by Justin Carbone, (of Special Consensus) and contains several songs that will be sure to keep Bluegrass radio airwaves busy for years to come and will pave the way for this multi-talented ‘Emerging Group” to rise very quickly in the Bluegrass music scene.

Analise Victoria Gold
Analise, the big sister, was born in San Angelo, Texas. She provides the band with smooth mandolin playing and lovely lead and harmony vocals. She enjoys handling most of the emcee duties for the band. She is also the band organizer and helps with the song arrangements. Analise has also teamed up with the girls in writing several original songs. Believe it or not she played the highland bagpipes for two years before getting into bluegrass. It was a tough decision but she gave up the bagpipes to devote more time to playing bluegrass with her sisters. Analise has placed second at the Virginia Folk Music Association contest in the Adult Female Vocalist division in 2006 and 2007. This is a great achievement as the competition is always stacked with many talented performers and singers from all over the state of Virginia.
Jocelyn Amanda Gold
Jocelyn was born in Tucson, Arizona. Her incredible rhythm guitar playing and heartfelt lead and harmony vocals add much to the band! She also contributes her unbelievable song writing skills. Remarkably, Jocelyn wrote or co-wrote ten of the twelve original song on their upcoming release "Never Let Go". Four of her songs are also featured on the debut album "Journey to Heaven’s Bright Shore". Not only is Jocey the chief song writer and arranger, she is the glue that holds the band together. On April 25th, 2008, Jocelyn competed in the Chris Austin Songwriters Contest at MerleFest In Wilkesboro, NC. She was one of twelve finalist out of 983 hopeful entrants! Jocelyn placed 3rd in the 2007 Junior Entertainer division at the Virginia Folk Music Association and 2nd in 2006 contest. She also placed 3rd in the Promising Young Talent division at the 2007 Yadkinville Old Time and Fiddlers Competition in North Carolina.
Shelby Hope Gold
Shelby was born in Brunswick, Georgia. This little lady is turning ears with her amazing fiddle breaks. Shelby not only plays the fiddle but sings powerful lead and harmony vocals as well. She keeps the entire band on its toes adding fills and inserting spur-of-the-moment breaks wherever she can. Shelby's songwriting skills are also featured on "Never Let Go". Shelby is the 2007 and 2006 Virginia State Champion " All Around Junior Entertainer" for the Virginia Folk Music Association. Most recently, Shelby competed in the 2007 Berlin Fiddlers Convention in Maryland and took home 2nd place in the Youth Fiddle category! She also placed second in the Promising Young Talent division at the 2007 Yadkinville Old Time and Fiddlers Competition held in North Carolina. At her very first fiddle contest in Sierra Vista, Arizona, in September of 2005, Shelby walked away with fourth place. That was after she had only been playing for about three months.
Trent Gold
Keeping watch over the brood and playing a steady upright bass is Daddy—Trent Gold. He was pressed into action in September of 2007 to play bass with Gold Heart. Trent was born in Honolulu but has his roots deeply embedded in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri, where most of his extended family still resides. This proud papa is honored to be on stage with his daughters and quite pleased to be a member of Gold Heart!
Russ Carson
Russ is a fine banjo player and the newest member of Gold Heart. He is from central Pennsylvania and began playing banjo when he was 9 yrs. old. Russ comes from a musical family, his Dad plays old time fiddle and banjo, and his passion for traditional music was nurtured growing up by many jams and music events his family hosted or attended. Russ has won a number of contests on banjo and guitar. Some other interests Russ enjoys are photography and helping his father restore their 1965 Mustang Fastback.
