Penca is the leaf, on the agave plant firmly rooted on this beautiful earth. Mezcal, and Tequila are extracted from that plant. Gabriela Penka’s purpose is to inebriate your heart with joy, just like the juices from that maguey plant. The music more importantly wishes to enter the listener’s consciousness, and awaken for a better world.

Gabriela Penka formed within the cactus filled crevices of Orange County in 1999. The aim was to include Mexican ska influences into the genre’s hot bed. Quickly forming a local scene and becoming the home band at venues that hosted ska bands from the rest of the Americas. Originally, a short-lived project. The band is back to re-introduce their brand of dirty ska, cumbia and raw punk attitude. They are ready to claim their place in an increasingly growing ska movement.
