Biography

G8 is a unique band with a unique concept. The group looks at globalization from various points of view, some of them obvious, some of them very subtle as well as tongue-in-cheek.

The name G8 describes not just the number of members in the band but is also a parody on the G8 economic super-powers. The groups songs, which feature a wide variety of styles and languages, from Berber to Swahili, Polynesian, Czech and English, are presented with a story line and sequence that takes the listener on a trip around the world, through poverty and suffering to joyous revival and dance. Through its varied songs, the band points to its chief message, that in the vast diversity of our planet there is unity, the common thread of which is in music. Such unity is the much-needed counterweight to the current trend of ever-increasing exclusion.
