Biography

Doomshade is a metal band from Kansas City currently working up material for the new record to follow up last years release of their first CD entitled, "Doomshade". The band formed in January of 2006. Doomshade has done around 120 live shows since then, secured a distribution contract with Open Grave Records, and delivered their first record to the public through popular international retailers.
Doomshade live performances are tight and the music is often compared to Pantera, Rob Zombie, and Godsmack. Most of the songs are between three and five minutes in length. The rhythms are catchy and easy to grasp for first time listeners, but intricate enough to hold your attention for the long run. The tone is heavy, heavy, heavy. Dead stops, grinding rhythms, powerful drum riffs, and clear gravel vocals highlight the musical interplay they bring to the stage. The guitar solos of Haupt and Christopher continue to grab audiences in a club scene over crowded with strictly rhythm guitar bands. Oliver's heavy handed drum style continues to override human biorythems and front-man Stadler’s stage presence is infectious. Doomshade gives 110% at their live performances. Their showmanship commands any stage and they entertain the eyes as well as the ear.

The inspiration for Doomshade came about during a hiatus from performing with the band Graven Image which Oliver, Haupt, and Christopher formed in 1995. Jay Stadler, a long time friend, saw an opportunity to enlist the group to work on a side project to record music for his vocals. Once composition and recording had begun the project took on a life of its own, and they decided to officially form a new band. Preparation for live performances went fast due to the twin guitar team of Haupt and Christopher, paired with drummer Oliver, who had worked together on all three of the indie records released by Graven Image between 1995 and 2003.

120 shows in 2 years gave the band the excuse for a much needed break and reorganization. Paul Stadler did a great job of filling in on the bass position but also had to leave for personal reasons beyond his control. The 2008 lineup will feature Bass player Corey Shartier returning to play with Haupt, Christopher, and Oliver on the new Doomshade CD. Corey was the bass player for Graven Image from 1996 - 2000 and his six string bass anchored the Graven Image record, "Emperor of Eternity," released in 2000. Shartier's style of playing is different than most of the bass players one encounters in the scene and marks him as a true veteran of the metal warz. You can hear Corey perform on the title song of G.I.'s 2000 release here http://www.gravenmetal.com/eoe.html

The band is currently working with several production companies in the Midwest to expand their audience base by performing in an ever-widening geographical area. Recording will begin in September 2008 on the second Doomshade record to be released in 2008. Doomshade is currently seeking a good label to work with, but either way they will continue to produce and perform quality heavy metal music for the foreseen future.
