The single coincides with David Olney’s video release of "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'" (written by Lee Hazlewood) as shot in Burbank, CA by inspired director Brian Smith of Rose 13 Creative. This contemporary and artistically impressive video release is a re-creation of the famed 1966 video featuring Nancy Sinatra. This year marks the 45th anniversary of the original song and video release.

The Nancy Sinatra early music video, which has many millions of views online, emphasized her provocative but good-natured style and a troupe of go-go girls shimmying to the song. Cutting edge at the time, the video was produced by Color-Sonics, and played on Scopitone jukeboxes worldwide. Both Olney and Sinatra versions of the video share a focus on the performer and the song supported by visual simplicity, mod colors and fun dance moves.

Director Brian Smith witnessed his first David Olney indelible live show in Los Angeles several years ago and set out to expose him to a wider audience. Although the song is not part of Olney’s repertoire, Mr. Smith envisioned David belting out this song with new meaning and set out to assemble an all-star supporting cast to create a visually and technically stunning presentation.

"What is super-cool about David's version is how a 60s mod-classic has been totally reinvented as a sort of raw, roadhouse standard. That stylistic and emotional distance is very important, I believe, to make the whole effort work -- not just the song itself, but the video as a whole, too -- as the rough musical edges allow our updated/anachronistic visual spin on the original video to serve as a sly counterpoint,” says Smith. “Plus, David's voice and attitude are just freaking awesome."

RIYL: Lee Hazlewood, Nancy Sinatra, Randy Newman, Tom Waits, Johnny Cash, Steve Earle, Townes Van Zandt, and Hoagy Carmichael.
