Meet the Champion Sisters

The Champion Sisters entertain audiences with their eclectic style and captivating vocals. Their close-knit harmonies and engaging presence make the trio a stage favorite.

The Champion Sisters, Molly and identical twins Brenda and Sandra, showcase their vocal talents through music ranging from swing to jazz, rhythm and blues to folk, big band to Contemporary Christian and country-western.

Vocal trio goes back to its country roots with new CD, Unfit To Be Tied

Champions Sisters’ third recording released in July

The sisters’ newly released third CD, Unfit To Be Tied, is a refreshing sound for anyone who enjoys good country music. The CD features the first recorded original song written by Brenda Champion, “Unconditional Love,” as well as numerous original songs and other country favorites.

The project began in 2010 at the acclaimed Historic SugarHill Studios in Houston, with the guidance of Andy Bradley. Bradley, with more than 35 years in the industry, has produced and engineered for many different record labels including a number of Grammy nominated projects. Bradley assembled a stellar team for the CD, including Mark Andes, Kenny Cordray, and Tyson Sheth.

Andes was a founding member of Spirit, Jo Jo Gunne, and Firefall, and a member of Heart from 1982-1992. Andes produced Real World Magic, his solo record, Jo Carol Pierce's Dog Of Love and now the Champion Sisters’ Unfit to be Tied. Andes has performed and recorded with Austin, Texas artists to include Alejandro Escovedo, Ian McLagan, Kelly Willis and Eliza Gilkyson until his recent relocation to the Houston area.

Unfit to be Tied features a diverse set of songs ranging from the slow, beautiful ballad, “Rock In A River” to songs such as “Good Enough For Me” that will make listeners want to get up and dance on a Friday night!

Champion Sisters’ History

Brenda, Sandra and Molly began their careers singing gospel music at church and at religious and secular functions, their group then called Adoration. The sisters have also toured the United States performing alongside other Christian artists. Their first single recording, “Song For Broken Hearts” hit the top 10 list of Contemporary Christian radio station KSBJ and remained there for more than three months.

Born in Texas, the sisters demonstrated their musical talents at the early ages of four and five. Throughout their early childhood and teen years, the trio developed their three-part harmonizations while singing along with their favorite artists.

The trio continues the legacy built by their late father, George Champion, a talented musician who performed alongside world famous country and western artists. He also was a longstanding guest on Utah Carl’s Gulf Coast Jamboree television show in Houston, Texas.

After a hiatus from the music industry, the Champion Sisters resumed their singing career in 2000 under the direction of renowned Texas pianist, composer and producer, as well as longtime family friend, Paul English.

Their debut CD, In The Mood, was released in 2005 AirPlayDirect.com/ChampionSisters2. The sisters’ second CD, Christmas with the Champion Sisters, was released in 2007 AirPlayDirect.com/ChampionSisters.

The Champion Sisters are widely sought after for live performances at high profile events. Recent engagements include the Mayor's annual Holiday Celebration Tree Lighting with Bill White, Regina Belle and Debra Duncan from KHOU. In 2009, the sisters were featured on a compilation CD with Debra Duncan titled "Star of Hope for the Holidays," with proceeds from the sales donated to the Star of Hope. The sisters also were involved on a compilation CD with SugarHill Studios that will release this year.

Other notable events include headlining for the Houston Grand Opera’s Cinderella Ball. The sisters serenaded former President George Bush, Sr., during a ceremony in Houston honoring him with the American Spirit Award from the National World War II Museum of New Orleans. They have also opened for the Houston Symphony Orchestra’s Annual Fourth of July Celebration, the Star Spangled Salute at the Cynthia Mitchell Woods Pavilion in The Woodlands, Texas.

They have performed the “National Anthem” and “God Bless America” at various major league and other sporting events. These include the Houston Astros, the Houston Texans, the Houston Dynamo, the Houston Comets and the Houston Aeros. Additionally, the Komen Houston – Race for the Cure is an organization near and dear to the sisters’ hearts, and they have performed the “National Anthem” and “Amazing Grace” at the kickoff ceremony for multiple years.
