Biography
Blackball Fighter describe themselves as indie funk rock, mixing synth atmospheres and effects with Led Zeppelin style riffs and intelligent chemical beats. Anthemic vocals weave through the atmospheric and driving soundscapes creating a unique, never before heard, nu-indie sound.

Formed in 2005, the band members immediately moved into a converted farmhouse buried deep in the countryside of County Down, and set about writing no-nonsense upbeat and melodic indie funk rock tunes that felt good to play live. Influenced by a wide spectrum of music ranging from Chemical Brothers to Dream Theatre, and fuelled by the manic party atmosphere in the rock and roll house, the band developed a keen sense of style and dynamic that forged energetic and unforgettable live performances.

Word of mouth sparked a very loyal local fanbase, ensuring that a buzz surrounds each and every live show. That circle continues to grow and in two years has stretched to Dublin, New York and Brisbane, Australia, where Blackball fans have created fan websites and bought, copied, downloaded and spread countless Blackball Fighter tunes and demos. The band's debut single FEVER quickly became a favourite of listeners to independent online radio in early 2007, and held the number one slot for four weeks on Revolution Radio, London, UK. This heralded a progression of the band into more professional territories and a move into full time independent promotion and distribution of their music in Ireland and worldwide.

The follow up single HELL was picked up by many independent radio stations and received rave reviews on RadioGetsWild and Revolution Radio in the UK during August 2007. It went straight into the Independent Irish Singles Chart at number ten generating a frenzy of activity on the band's Myspace and thousands of website hits during a single weekend.

Blackball Fighter have unquestionably developed a totally unique sound and a fresh, uplifting style of songwriting. The latest single release from the band is SHIPS, a chilling, upbeat and very visual piece of music, hovering on the brink of breaking out from underground nightclubs and live music venues in the band's hometown, where it is quickly achieving a cult-like following. SHIPS is inspired by the shadowy events of 24th February 1942, when a UFO was attacked with US Navy artillery guns in the skies above Los Angeles.

The band members have maintained their 'all or nothing' attitude since the very beginning, and are currently planning live shows in Dublin, Liverpool, Manchester and London to promote the SHIPS digital download.
