Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Billy Gilman has released his latest Bluegrass single, “Til You Come Home,” available now via Pinecastle Records. The original mid-tempo track is the newest release from the Rhode Island native’s anticipated Roller Coaster album, set to drop in early 2025.
In his latest single, Gilman flips the script on traditional narratives of longing and separation. “So many songs have been written from the perspective of the person who is away from home for whatever reason - like driving an 18-wheeler for weeks at a time and longing to get back,” Gilman explains. “But we wanted to do the opposite - to show the struggle of the one who is left behind in the boredom and routine of being alone in the house when a loved one is gone. It’s funny the things people think to do to try and make the time go faster!” The song captures the emotional moments that accompany waiting for someone’s return.
Co-written by Billy Gilman alongside frequent collaborators Dan Murph and Philip Douglas, “Til You Come Home” is straight-ahead Bluegrass from start to finish. With its heartfelt lyrics and compelling melody, Gilman captures the essence of the often overlooked experience of anticipation. He plays guitar on the track, accompanied by a talented lineup including John Mailander on fiddle, Jarrod Walker on mandolin, Jake Stargel on guitar, Vickie Vaughn on bass, Gabe Hirshfeld on banjo, and Martha Christian on harmony vocals.
“Til You Come Home” follows the success of Gilman’s previous singles, including “That’s Bluegrass To Me” featuring Rhonda Vincent, which has already resonated with audiences for its homage to the genre's rich heritage. It also follows charting singles like the title track and No. 2-peaking radio hit, “Delta Queen.” As Gilman continues to explore his passion for Bluegrass, his music reflects a deep connection to the genre that has been a part of his life since childhood.
Billy Gilman first captured the nation’s attention with his debut single “One Voice” in 2000, leading to a Grammy nomination and breaking records as the youngest artist to reach No. 1 on Billboard’s “Top Country Albums Chart.” His transition to Bluegrass marks a return to his roots, inspired by memories of listening to the genre with his grandparents. The upcoming Roller Coaster album will be his first full-length project since his acclaimed appearance on season 11 of NBC’s The Voice in 2016.
