Biography
"Unshackled" started in 1990 when Tony and Janet began dating. Janet's family had a Gospel group and Tony began playing drums with the family group, then played the guitar and piano. In November of 1990 Tony and Janet were married and continue to play music with Janet's sister(Betty Maddox/Tom Maddox) and brother (Eddie Boyd) and traveled playing Gospel music whenever possible. In 1996 the group became Unshackled and recorded,in Tony and Janet's basement, the CD entitled "Power in Prayer, Freedom in Praise." In 2003 Unshackled recorded their next project with New City Records entitled "On My Way". Shortly after that the rest of the family decided to go a different directions in their own ministries. Tony and Janet continued to travel all over the country as "Unshackled." In 2007 the group all but stopped traveling except for little dates here and there as they took time to restructure and decide on the direction God had for their lives. During that time Tony continued writing songs and preparing for the time they would get back in the studio and record and travel again. So, in 2009 they began recording the new album entitled "Not So Easy Street" and completed it in November 2009. The album turned out to be a fresh sound for the group. Tony & Janet are very excited about moving to the next level in their ministry and are excited about the opportunities that are presenting themselves on a daily basis.
