Big Lu was destined to pursue a career in music. Born in Washington to a father from Nigeria and a mother from South Carolina, Olutona Ogunfiditimi a.k.a. Big Lu was exposed to music on an international level much of his life. As a youth, he was the drummer for a local Go-Go band where he discovered his passion for music.
With the release of his debut album on IGIT Records, Big Lu now crafts unique beats and lyrics reflective of his cosmopolitan experience. The album entitled Hustlers Blues is a compilation of his true-life experiences. From grimy street joints like Revenge Is Mine to up beat party tracks like Put Your Hands Up, he numbs the senses.
A versatile musician, Big Lu has produced music for artists from various genres including Hip-Hop, R&B, Reggae/Dancehall and Techno. When asked about how producing different genres of music impacts his sound specifically with Hip-Hop he said, I believe it gives me an edge creatively. Producing for different genres forces me to explore new sounds and improves my instrumentality. I love to use live guitars and be as musical as possible without losing the grit. The beat has to be on point always.
Big Lu is determined to shake up the music industry and put D.C. on the map. Much more than just another rapper, Big Lu is a rare talent; able to transcend mediocrity.
