Biography
BLUEGRASS EXPRESS was formed in 1980 by the father-son duo of Gary and Greg Underwood, and it was Jim & Jesse that secured the band’s first record deal with Atteiram Records in 1985. The current members of BLUEGRASS EXPRESS recognized it was time for the band to pay homage to their friends, first generation bluegrass legends, and Grand Ole Opry stars in the form of a tribute album.
Band founder and patriarch GARY UNDERWOOD plays guitar. GREG UNDERWOOD, who toured with the Cox Family and performed with Charlie Louvin, plays bass and handles the lead vocals. Third generation award-winning multi-instrumentalist JACOB UNDERWOOD sings tenor and provides fantastic cross-picking on the mandolin. A pair of Oklahoma brothers and Byron Berline Band alums ANDREW HUNT and JONATHAN HUNT provide stellar fiddle and banjo work.
