Biography
Captivating audiences from New York, NY to Pensacola, FL with charisma, passion and energy, Angwish emerges as "the Carolina's hottest alternative rock band" (Charlotte Observer, Charlotte Creative Loafing, Amps 11 Fanzine). Their influences include 50's rock, 60's pop, 70's metal, 80's punk, 90's alternative and more. The talented songwriter and front-man Bryan Bielanski (guitar, vocals) joined by Rachael Malmberg (bass, vocals) and Chris Smith (drums, vocals) give the band their contagious sound described as hook-oriented power-pop with indie rock undercurrents made unique by emotional, sometimes irreverent lyrical content and bittersweet vocal harmonies from our two singers.
Receiving airplay on radio stations, earning a sponsorship from Sam Ash Music Store, and original songs appearing in the Austrian division of Red Bulls advertisements, and in the independent film, Seeds, Angwish has definitely cemented their presence as a band on the rise.
Angwish's debut EP release QFQ in 1998, caught the attention of the indie label Street Records. This led to the 1999 Street Records release of the first full-length CD, Prototype. Angwish went on to complete two east coast tours, then came the 2002 release 485 with continued regional touring.
2005 brought the release of the EP All the Problems under the Angwish record label KEH due to the end of Street Records in 2004. The band released its new full length CD, Calamity (produced by Catalyst Recording's Rob Tavaglione) in August 2007 and toured the southeast U.S. and Europe in 2008, where they headlined the Ikarus International Rock Festival (the second largest music festival in Greece) in Crete.
This band thrives on their audience and on delivering an outstanding performance time and time again! A must see for any concert goer! Coming to a venue near you!
