Every Bit Of Me” - I cherish being a mother to my son Wyatt, and will never forget how in awe of him I was, holding him for the very first time and laying eyes on this most precious little soul - especially after the scare we had during my pregnancy. The flood of emotion and feelings of wonder I had are de- scribed in this song. The sweet innocence and promise that a baby brings reminds us that each moment a new someone who could change the world has arrived.

“I’ll Dance Forever With You” – My Aunt Connie and Uncle Bob Watson were created in Heaven to find each other on Earth. Starting out as
high school sweethearts, stealing away to be married in secret
and holding hands every single day they shared together for
50+ years, they danced through life’s ups and downs (literally) and their story proves just how powerful and timeless love really is.
“Loving How You Love Me” – Young love is strong and passionate. But love that has stood the test of time becomes stronger as two people age together. The sweet memories of all the years and experiences they have shared creates a fortress around them that will weather any storm and keeps them hungry to be back together at the end of each day. Just like wine, it gets sweeter with the passage of time. This one is for you Keith – I love you more every day.

“Each Lesson That I Learned” – I have had the honor of being a hospice nurse for many years, allowing me to care for patients while they face the reality of leaving all they have here on Earth including everyone they love. I have often been a silent witness providing care while the final days, hours and moments slip away with family and friends gathered around the bed. The world gets very small with the focus shifting to love, life and hope as precious words are exchanged that will remain as lasting memories until they are together again. This song speaks about my experiences and I hope it is a help to anyone who needs it.

“Surrender Hallelujah” – Last but most importantly, my relationship with God is the basis for everything in my life. I am a work in progress. This song represents the intentional prayer of Surrender that acts as a compass to point me in the direction He has for me for His glory. I hope this helps you find His way for you too.

The remaining songs are about every day trials and blessings with life and love. I hope you find yourself in a few and enjoy them as much as I did writing them!

ABOUT ALI & EVERY BIT OF ME:
Ali Shumate, a native of Bluefield, West Virginia who now resides in West Palm Beach, Florida is no stranger to the bluegrass world having fronted her own band and been a supporting member of other bands playing festivals and venues on the east coast.

After meeting award winning bluegrass singer songwriter Donna Ulisse in 2017, the two discovered they had a strong co-writing chemistry and many of the results are found on this album, also produced by Ulisse.

Several songs on the album are deeply personal to Shumate such as "Each Lesson That I Learned" which poignantly reflects on her time as a hospice nurse, being a silent witness providing care to patients while the final days, hours and moments slip away with family and friends gathered around the bed of their loved one as precious words are exchanged, that will remain as lasting memories until they are together again.

"Loving How You Love Me" is a tender love song to her husband Keith while "I'll Dance Forever With You" is a loving tribute to her aunt and uncle who she considered to be soulmates and who loved to dance and did indeed dance through over fifty years of marriage.

The title track "Every Bit of Me" is a song every mother can relate to as Ali sings about how in awe she was as she held her newborn son for the first time. The flood of emotion and feelings of wonder she had are described in this song.

Shumate's deep faith is also evident in several of the songs such as "Im Ready Right Now" and "Mama's Bible" which will be favorites on bluegrass gospel playlists. Her optimism about life in general shines through these songs. She is backed by some of the top acoustic musicians in the genre as she steps out with this fresh album of new bluegrass material showcasing her songwriting and vocal talents.
