Biography
Brisbane rock outfit 1989 is bringing back the hard rock of the seventies and eighties that is sadly missed and strongly sought after by rock fans today. Many have likened 1989's style and talent to some of the great bands in classic rock history, but they still have their own distinct and unique sound.
"Time-travelers 1989 step out of their decade of choice, the Brisbane five-piece filling the stage with some epic power stances and synchronized hair-whipping, each member getting the chance to show case their moves from the outset. Democracy established, the short set is highlighted by the soon-to-be released single Don't Care, the heavy riffs and high notes creating a classic vibe….." Rave Magazine, February 2008
Since finalizing the 5 member line-up in March 2007, 1989 have written and released a six track demo EP recorded in a shed turned "rumpus room". The EP has been very well received and was officially launched at the Redcliffe Youth Space in September 2007, where they performed a live show that stamped them as a quality band with a fantastic live sound. Since the EP launch, they have had regular work at numerous venues in Brisbane where they have received incredible reviews from both audience and venue owners. The boys have also recently supported The Screaming Jets and U.K rockers Budgie.
"After recently supporting Welsh hard rock legends Budgie, classic rock and roll devils 1989 are now set to lend their wares to Chick Flicks EP launch at the Globe this sat 23. The five piece have a great ac/dc meets iron Maiden inspired sound that'll undoubtedly take them places, so be sure to check 'em out." Time Off Magazine, February 2008
1989 is a band that wants to go places in the music industry and has the writing and musical skills to take it all the way. This combination of skill and determination comes to the surface whenever they perform their powerful and energetic live show.
Look out for these guys at a venue near you. You will not be disappointed.
