Biography
Le Monnier is a cutting edge rock band from Hertfordshire (UK) – a female fronted, power trio.

In 2005, Alexandra Le Monnier (Vocals and Bass Guitar) set out to find musicians who wanted the same as her; to write music, record and tear it up live. Alexandra, from Jersey, started out in music joining a church choir and learning piano, enticed by being told by her family this was how many of the greats had started out. In her early teens Alexandra traded her second instrument double bass in for a bass guitar and started performing in a local Irish band and a few rock bands, which led her to release an album at the age of 15.

Arriving in England in 2003, to fulfill her art education, Alexandra decided to take her music ambitions further. Forming a band at college she met Matt Keil (Guitars and Piano). Matt is a classically trained pianist and composer who was studying composition at the time he met Alexandra. During his teenage years he branched out and took up guitar and drums going on to perform in numerous blues and metal bands.

Matt and Alex’s classical backgrounds and similar tastes in rock such as Alice in Chains, Metallica and Evanescence, made them an eager pair. Bloodthirsty to make their own style, they quickly reformed the band and Matt switched from drums to Lead Guitar inciting an exciting transformation.

The band unites climaxing riffs, passionate and forceful vocals with a prime mix of rock and metal rhythms into striking dynamic songs that are rooted in classical charm. The songs all have their own personalities with a confident and refreshing elegance.

In late 2009, their self released debut album ‘Cynic Sister’ set the scene for a musical journey that has seen them become one of the most exciting prospects in rock ‘n’ roll today. The album is set for reissue on to CD, complete with a new bonus track ‘Missing You’. The album encapsulates the bands emotional melodic and vigorous energy, which they are famous for recreating on stage. The album achieved stunning reviews and BBC Three Counties Radio attention for airplay. With an exciting future ahead, Le Monnier are beginning to attract attention with praise in the UK and abroad.

Playmusic Pickup Magazine states “Le Monnier easily hold their own against any stadium filling metal/goth band we could name.” While Femme Metal adds “you can’t help but feel the energy and power” discussing the first single ‘Black Dot’.

Onstage, Le Monnier capture the room, awakening the crowds spirits with seriously hooky riffs. Le Monnier took on a busy 2010 promoting their debut album, including two music videos and touring, followed by headlining shows at the Hertfordshire Forum and performing alongside many local rock and metal bands.

The band are currently promoting their new EP, preceding the development of their second album for May 2011 and are now represented by Broken Music Publishing.
